As I’ve gotten older, my health and self-care has become of importance to me. I realized it was time for me to start taking care of myself. One way I wanted to do this was start a skincare routine. Like many adults, I suffered from acne and dark spots, and my face was terrible especially during my pregnancy. I'm very proud of my progress so far. My routine consist of acne facial wash, alcohol-free toner, fade cream, moisturizer, sunscreen, and nourishing facial oil.
Here are some tidbits I learned in the process of starting my routine:
1. Choose products that go best with your skin type. For me, I needed products that wouldn't dry my skin out and treat normal and acne prone skin.
2 Toner is best if you have sensitive skin. Astringent is best if you have oily skin.
3 Sunscreen prevents dark spots from getting darker.
4. When it comes to pimples, if you are going to pop them, you have to pop them at the right time.
5. Black people DO need sunscreen
Below are before and after pictures.
I’ve posted two videos showing what products I use for my skincare routine and I also talk about my dermatologist appointment. Enjoy!
