College Is Not For Everyone...It's An Option
I know some may look at this title and think “huh?”, but it’s the truth.
I (and many millennials) grew up being taught that you need to go to college to have a better life, to get a good job, and to make a lot of money. In some cases, this may be true. But in today’s time, attitudes toward college are changing.
Being a college student takes commitment, dedication, time management skills, etc. And quite frankly some people are just not made for it.
Not only is college not for everyone but is not always necessary, and for some may not be worth it.
Some careers/jobs don’t even require a degree. Most employers look for more than degrees; they look for experience and a skill set.
When you look at some celebrities they were dropouts or never even went to college. Even those that went to college, it was more so what they did with their degree that made them successful.
I will say it depends on what career you want. If you want to be a doctor, then yes college is absolutely necessary. A comedian? Naw.
Let’s also keep in mind that education is actually broad. There’s online education, trade school, life itself (learning from experience and gaining wisdom), and there’s also those who are autodidacts.
So ,no, college is not for everyone. it’s not always necessary and not always worth it.
You have to ask yourself the hard questions to know what’s best for you.
