My Reflection: Just Breathe

My Reflection: Just Breathe

Anyone who truly knows me knows that I am random. I am always thinking, reflecting, pondering on something. I am a very introspective person.

Lately I have been reflecting on this theme of breathing. Here are my thoughts which are bits and pieces but I assure you they are connected

So since learning of how the coronavirus attacks the body, I’ve been so thankful simply to be able to breathe.

Hearing of the virus and the number of deaths, has me reflecting on how easy it is to forget this simple blessing. If you have breathe in your body, you are blessed!

I am a big fan of Kevonstage and his wife, MrsKevonstage. He has a YouTube show called “Ask A” where he and his co-host Big Irish Jay interview people of different walks of life. I recently watched a show where they interviewed an autopsy technician. Listening to her describe her job and how she disassembles organs really got me to thinking— hmmm we are really and literally breathe in a body. Also, the bible says that God breathed life into Adam when he created him.

Genesis 2:7 “ Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breathe of life into the man’s nostrils and the man became a living person.”

The show reminded me of this scripture.

If you suffer from anxiety and/or panic attacks , one of the techniques that is really helpful is deep breathing. Did you know that practicing deep breathing helps relax you and helps lower your blood pressure and stress level?

Affirmations can help with anxiety too. One of my affirmations is when I control my breathe I control my life. Just think about that. Breathing is simple yet powerful!

Last, I watched a clip from Beleaf who is a father, husband, podcaster, YouTuber, and musician, and it nailed the head for me (check out his TedTalk). In the clip, he and his guest talked about there being a spiritual attack. He also talked about the connection with Covid-19 attacking the respiratory system sometimes literally leaving someone unable to breathe with the last words of George Floyd “I can’t breathe.” In addition, he pointed out that protesters around the world are shouting “I can’t breathe” as well as the quote being on apparel.

Beleaf also posted a YouTube video teaching his children how to “breathe well” as he calls it. Please watch these videos! They are very insightful.

As I said in the beginning, these are my thoughts so I hope it makes sense. I just thought it was interesting how I keep seeing this theme of breathing during this time.

Have you seen this same theme in your life? Do you practice deep breathing?
