The MJ Consistency Challenge: 2 Weeks In

At the beginning of the month, I joined the MJ Consistency Challenge. Basically, the challenge is to blog daily, Monday through Friday. The challenge is from July 6th to July 31st so that’s 20 blog posts. The winner gets a cash prize of $1,000. Also, you must use the hashtag #mjconsistencychallenge when posting on social media.

It’s been two weeks since the challenge started and I’ve learned so much.

I first want to thank Mattie James for this challenge. Mattie James is a mother, wife, blogger, and influencer. If you check out her Instagram page, and I think you should, you’ll learn this about her:

I teach influencers how to get paid by brands.

I love her brand because not only is she successful and an expert, she wants to see others succeed as well. If you’re an influencer (or blogger) I encourage you to please follow her. You will not be disappointed.

For consistency, you gotta take the stairs.

Any who, I first learned of her when Kevonstage interviewed her for his virtual creators conference. I’ve been following her ever since.

As for the challenge, I honestly joined to win the money. I said to myself why not. Do it and see what happens. Also, at the beginning of the challenge I decided to view it as a journey.

So What Am I Learning?

I realized this challenge is putting into motion things I have been procrastinating on. For instance, I’ve had several blog post ideas that I’ve been slow to post but this challenge is definitely speeding up the process.

Here are some other things I’ve learned:

  1. I CAN post consistently and posting consistently is key

  2. Treat my blog like a business

  3. Add my poetry book to my site (more of a to do item)

  4. Planning/scheduling is going to be my best friend

  5. Blogs are not dead. They are actually becoming popular again

  6. Last, I had a fear that my love for blogging would be replaced by the motive to use my blog for income but I can do both! It’s no different from me applying for a writing job. I would be getting paid to do what I love. At least with blogging I can work for myself and that’s the plan!

I’m glad I joined this challenge and I’m looking forward to the next two weeks of blogging!
